Hershel H. Wilson
Funeral services for Mr. Hershel H. Wilson, age 95, of Vidalia, who died June 22, 2009, at Natchez Regional Hospital were held Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at 10 AM with the Reverand Ray Varnado officiating.
Interment followed at 3:30 PM at Village Methodist Cemetery in Village, Arkansas, near Magnolia.
Mr. Wilson was born June 13, 1914, in Columbia County, Arkansas, the son of Leon and Dera Booth Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Jones Wilson, whom he married on July 26, 1936; and his brothers Homer and Drew Wilson and a sister Dessie Mae Beene Summer.
Mr. Wilson is survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends and loved by all who knew him.
Mr. Wilson was employed as a field gauger for Ashland Oil. He was a long time member of Vidalia Methodist Church where he served as an usher for many years.
The family wishes to thank his family at the Magnolia House and wonderful caregivers.
Pall bearers were his nephews. Arrangements were by Young's Funeral Home of Vidalia.
Minnie Vera Tingle Southern
Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Vera Tingle Southern, age 98, of Ferriday, were held at Young's Funeral Home on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at 2 PM with Bro. Don Bush and Bro. Richard Cullum officiating.
Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mrs. Southern was born June 15, 1911, in Pollock, LA, the daughter of Henry Monroe Tingle and Mittie Belle Elkins Tingle, and passed from this life Thursday, June 25, 2009 in Ferriday.
She was a resident of Ferriday, a homemaker, and a member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lester Southern, her daughters Shirley Ann Drummond and Patsy Ruth Harp, and her sisters Gladys Garner and Ima Morgan.
Mrs. Southern is survived by her son Lester Lynn Southern and his wife JoAnn of Sallis, MS; her daughter Laveda Sue and her husband, Raymond Eames, of Ferriday, and her sisters Fannie Spears of Colfax, La., and Ura Lucas of Texas.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
The Pallbearers were her great-grandsons Tanner Whittington, Tyler Buffington, Raymond Kenneth Eames, Ethan Southern, Corey Southern, and James Austin Diel.
The Honorary Pallbearers were Larry Whittington, Tommy Barron, Preston Holder, Dick Norwood, Paul Harris, and Glen Sharp.

James Haywood Moore
Funeral services for Mr. James Haywood Moore Sr., age 88, of Ferriday, were held at Young's Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at 10 AM with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating.
Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Moore was born September 15, 1920, in Homer, LA,  the son of  Floyd King Moore and Louise Caraway Moore, and passed from this life Sunday, June 28, 2009, in Ferriday.
He was a resident of Ferriday, retired from South Central Bell after 42 years of service and was a member of the First Baptist Church Ferriday since 1951.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his son William King Moore, his brothers Benjamin Moore and Royce Moore, and his sisters Mary Dezendorf and Christine Crawson.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eula Payne Moore of Ferriday; children, Regena Bowers and her husband Mike of Ferriday, James H. Moore, Jr. of Baton Rouge,  and Donald Moore and his wife Abby, also  of Baton Rouge.
Also surviving Mr. Moore are his brothers, Waymond Moore of Colorado and Tommy Moore of Homer, and his sister Artie Wright of Monroe.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
The Pallbearers were family and friends.

Oliver L. Poole
Funeral services for Oliver L. Poole Sr., age 87, of Ruston, La., formerly of Gloster, MS, and Jonesville, who died Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Ruston, will be at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Gloster United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Pyles officiating.
Burial will follow at Roseland Cemetery in Gloster under the direction of Brown Funeral Home in Gloster.
Mr. Poole was born April 18, 1922, in Gloster, the son of Farley “Boss” Poole and Mazie Huff Poole. He was a former teacher and high school and   junior college football coach.
Mr. Poole was a graduate of Crosby High School. He played football at the University of Mississippi. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. While in the V-12 program, where he played a year of football for the University of North Carolina, he was All-State, All-Southern Conference and AP Honorable Mention All-American. He also played professional football for the New York Yankees, Baltimore Colts and Detroit Lions.
Oliver coached junior college and high school in Mississippi and Louisiana, spending most of his time as a teacher and coach in Jonesville.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Avis Jean Poole.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Gayle S. Poole; one daughter, Peggy Gilmore and her husband, Danny; one son, Lamar Poole and his wife, Meghan; one sister, Murl Strong; and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Annie Louise Daniel Myers
Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Louise Daniel Myers, age 81, of Sicily Island, who passed from this life Monday, June 29, 2009, will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 10 AM at Sicily Island First Baptist Church with Bro. Ken Hoots and Bro. James Gass officiating.
Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 8 PM at Sicily Island First Baptist Church today, Wednesday, July 1st.
