Thomas Case
Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Case, age 78, of Jonesville, were held at Rosin Creek Pentecostal Church on Friday, June 5, 2009, at 11 AM with Bro. A. J. Kimball officiating.
Interment followed at New Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.
Mr. Case was born January 3, 1931, in Clayton, La., the son of Rosie and Louie Case. He passed from this life Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at The Columns Community Care Center in Jonesville.
He was a resident of Jonesville, newspaper salesman, and a member of Rosin Creek Penetecostal Church.
Mr. Case was preceded in death by his sisters Janie Pearl Moss and Gladys Holloway.
He is survived by his brothers, L. C. Case and his wife Marlene of Pineville, and Percy Case and his wife Helen of Monterey.
Also surviving Mr. Case are numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Case, Kenny Case, Michael Moss, James Packer, Gervis Parent, and Sam Renfrow.

Velma E. Smith
Funeral services for Mrs. Velma E. Smith, age 69, of Jonesville, were held at Mayna Church of God on Sunday, June 7, 2009, at 10 AM with Bro. Lloyd Trisler officiating.
Interment followed at Nichols Cemetery, Larto,  under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Mrs. Smith was born December 17, 1939, in Catahoula Parish, the daughter of Clint and Clara White Littleton, and passed from this life Saturday, June 6, 2009, at her home in Jonesville.
She was a resident of Jonesville, formerly of Larto Lake. She was a retired Warehouse Manger for Louisiana Delta Plantation.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, George Rayvon Smith, her parents, three brothers, Clint Littleton, Jr., Bradly Alwell and Jerry Alwell, and her step-father, Truman Alwell.
She is survived by her daughters, Georgette Book and her husband Pat of Jonesville, and Renee Floyd and her husband Bill of Deville.
Also surviving Mrs. Smith are her brothers, Terry Alwell and his wife Jaunita of Beaumont, Texas, and Billy Alwell of Jonesville; and her sisters, Marvyn LaPrairie and her husband George of Larto, Addie Mae Wiley and her husband Winfred of Larto, and Doris Alwell of Jonesville.
She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The Pallbearers were Barrett Book, Rayvon Floyd, Lioniel Montpelier, Alfred Saker, Eric Stott and Clayton Bloch.
The Honorary Pallbearers were Robert Wiley and Wallace LaPrairie.

Rosalie Creel
Funeral services for Mrs. Rosalie Creel, age 73, of Jonesville, were held at 10 AM, Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at New Life Pentecostal Church, Manifest, with Revs. David Poole and Brian Taylor officiating under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria.
Interment followed at Heard Cemetery, Manifest, LA.
Mrs. Creel passed from this life Monday, June 1, 2009, at LaSalle General Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Creel; and sons, Norman Creel, Owie Creel and Marty Creel.
She is survived by Kenny and Linda Creel, Karen and Doyle Watson, Shelia Davis, Tabitha Creel, Brandy Davis and Jessica Sikes, all of Jonesville, and Brenda and Lanny Vestal of Dyersburg, TN.
Also surviving Mrs. Creel are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as her brothers, Danny Hamilton, Bobby Hamilton and Gilford Hamilton; and sisters, Bernice Floyd and Juanita Tate.
Mamie McMillin Marvin
Mamie McMillin Marvin passed from this life on Friday, June 5, 2009, at the age of 86.  
She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Marvin, a Chevron retiree.  
A native of Jonesville, Mamie and family have resided in Algiers since 1956.  
She is survived by her children, Barbara Bresler, Rick and Vickie Marvin, Connie and Leon Terrase and James Marvin; her grandchildren, Ricky and Tracey Marvin, Rachel and Miguel Bonilla, Ryan and Andrea Marvin, Randall Marvin, Tiffany and Phillip Rose, Kelly Terrase, Courtney Terrase, Debra Bresler, Steven Bresler and Scott Bresler; and her great grandchildren, Raegan, Miguel and Ian.  
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the wonderful staff and nurses of Woldenberg Village for their support and loving care over the past four years; and to the staff and nurses of Odyssey Hospice for their tender special care in the final days.  
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in the Chapel of Woldenberg Village, 3701 Behrman Place, Algiers, LA at 2PM on Tuesday, June 9, 2009.

Lillie Lois (Little) Arbuthnot
Lillie Lois (Little) Arbuthnot, born August 7, 1922 was Heaven bound Sunday, June 7, 2009.
Services will be held today, Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at 10 AM in the chapel of Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home in Jena.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Rhinehart.
Mrs. Lois is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Dewitt. She is also survived by her daughter Katherine and her husband David Scharer of Humble, Texas; and her son John Arbuthnot and his wife Carlla of Baton Rouge.
Also surviving Mrs. Louis are her four grandsons, Christopher Scharer of Atlanta, Georgia, Steven Scharer of Austin, Texas, Thomas Arbuthnot and wife Katie of Lubbock, Texas, and Sgt. James Arbuthnot, US Marine stationed in Okinawa; and two great-grandsons, William and Walker Arbuthnot of Lubbock, who gave her great joy.
She was the daughter of Daisy Doughty and Fred Little who preceded her death along with five brothers, (James, Jesse, Louis, Milton, and Cecil) and three sisters (Daisy, Mary and Marie).
Mrs. Lois or Aunt Lois should be remembered for her selfless hard work as a post-war wife and mother. In addition to her children, she helped raise her sister ’s, Marie’s daughter, Ruby Nell Swayze Smith after Marie’s death.
Over the years she was an active church member in leading the music, vacation Bible School activities and preparing many visiting revival preachers ’ meals. At the same time she had a beautiful yard, prepared perfect jellies and jams, pies and cakes. No one went hungry.
One of her last accomplishments was her dedication to establishing the financial security of Oak Grove Cemetery Fund. In lieu of flowers, please send donation to Oak Grove Cemetery Fund, 397 Tullos Road, Jonesville, La. 71343.

Robert Dee Gray
Graveside service for Mr. Robert Dee Gray, age 74, of Clayton, was held  Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 10 AM in Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island.
William Merritt officiated under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.
Mr. Gray was born March 23, 1935, the son of Ezra Gray and Mattie (Myles) Gray.
He passed from this life Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, La.
Mr. Gray proudly  served his country in the U. S. Army.
Mr. Gray is survived by his children, two daughters, Vickie (Gray) Powell of Splendora, Texas, and Donna (Gray) Keith of Clayton, and one son, Steve Delane Gray, also of Clayton.

Justin Case
Funeral services for Mr. Justin Case, 28, of Jonesville, LA will be held at Grace Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Bro. Perry Gardner, Bro. Frank Bass, and Bro. Todd Tucker officiating.
Interment will follow at Heard Cemetery in Manifest under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Mr. Case was born December 22, 1980, in Alexandria, LA, the son of Scherry and Jimmy Case of Jonesville, and he passed from this life Sunday, June 7, 2009, in Jonesville.
He was a resident of Jonesville, a floor man in the oilfield industry, and he was of the Baptist faith.
The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home, Jonesville, La. from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday, June 9, 2009.
