Joseph Mark Davis
Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Mark Davis, age 50, of Jonesville,  were held at First Baptist Church Of  Jonesville on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 10 AM with Rev. Marshall Douglas and Rev. Jimmie Pyles officiating.  
Interment followed at Jena Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Mark was born June 28, 1958, in Killeen, Texas, the son of Joseph H. “Sonny” and Nellie Davis, and passed from this life Thursday, May 21, 2009, at his residence in Jonesville.
Mark graduated from Block High School in 1976.  He graduated from USL in 1981, and he was the  co-owner and operator of Davis Farms.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joe G. and Marjorie Davis, and his maternal grandparents, Johnnie and Lillie Edwards.
Mark is survived by his wife Joni Ford Davis of Jonesville, his children, Joseph Matthew Davis, John Michael Davis, and Jordan Meschelle Davis, all of Jonesville, his parents, Joseph H. “Sonny” and Nellie Davis, and his brother Tim Davis and his wife Melissa, all of Jonesville.
He is also survived by his father- and mother-in-law, Bobby Lee and Evelyn White Ford; his brothers-in-law, Barry Ford and Kyle Ford and his wife Tiffany; and his sister-in-law, Jana Ford, all of Jonesville, La.
Also surviving Mark are his nieces, Heather Hamilton and  her husband Ryan of Harrisonburg, and Zea Ford of Jonesville; and his nephews, Scott David, and Laban Ford,  both of Jonesville, and Spencer Yarbrough of McComb, Miss.; as well as his great-nephew, Blake Hamilton of Harrisonburg.
The Pallbearers were  Paul Lazarus, Harvey Ray White, Kyle Ford, Barry Ford, Ryan Hamilton and David Freeman.
The Honorary Pallbearers were Dewayne Wilson, Joe Curry, Scott Davis, Kent Richard, Charlie Riggs, Paul Riggs and Mike Stutson.

Shirley Briggs
Funeral services for  Shirley Briggs, age 69, of Jonesville, were held at Young's Funeral Home, Jonesville, on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dave Phillips          officiating.  
Interment followed at Long Pine Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Shirley was born August 30, 1939, in Jonesville, the daughter of Gilbert Briggs, Sr., and Lillian Finley Briggs, and passed from this life Thursday, May 21, 2009, at her residence in Jonesville.  She managed and worked for Champlin Net Company for 52 years.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert Briggs, Jr. and Enzor Briggs, infant brother, Rodney Briggs, and her niece, Sandy Deville.
Survivors include her sister, Ruth Champlin of Jonesville, and two nieces, Tammy Edwards and her husband Craig of Jonesville, and Vickie Brantley of Lake Village, Ark.
Shirley is also survived by her great-nephew, Dusty Edwards, and four great-nieces, Kacie  King and her husband Ryan, Sunni McMillin and her husband Dillon, all of Jonesville, Nikki Grafton and her husband Jason of Brandon, Miss., and and Shana Brantley of Little Rock, Ark. and great-great-niece, Kadence McMillin  and great-great-nephew, Davis Grafton, both of Jonesville.
She is also survived by two special pets,  Abbey Jo and Precious.
The Pallbearers were Tony Johnson, Keith Johnson, Lorenzo Wilkerson, Craig Edwards, Dusty Edwards and Sam Wilkerson.
The Honorary Pallbearers were Kent Brantley, Roger Deville and Roger Beall.

Jimmy Dale Walston
Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Dale Walston, age 73, of Sicily Island, were held at New Hope Pentecostal Church on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 2 PM with Rev. Chris Hamilton and Rev. Lesley Brown officiating.
Interment followed at Highland Park Cemetery, Sicily Island, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Walston was born November 14, 1935, in Sicily Island,  the son of John Stephens Walston and Goldie Irene Cader Walston, and passed from this life Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Plantation Manor Nursing Home in Wisner.
He was a resident of Sicily Island, owner and operator of Walston Equipment, and a member of the New Hope Pentecostal Church.
Mr. Walston was preceded in death by three  brothers, Lloyd, Willie and J.E. Walston, and two sisters, Ruby Ratcliff and Dale Granger.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jimmie Lou Spears Walston of Sicily Island, his son, Danny Walston and his wife Marcia Walston of Manifest; and his daughter, Janice Walston of Sicily Island.
Mr. Walston is also survived by three  grandchildren, Jennifer Stelly and King Self, Troy and Ashley Rush and Garrett Walston; and two great-grandchildren, Julia and Nicholas Stelly.
Also surviving Mr. Walston are his sisters, Mamie Bice of Ferriday, Grace and Johnny Rodriquez of Metairie, and Pat and Tony Medina of Kenner, La.; and his brothers, Billy and Kay Walston of Covington, La., and Larry and Martha Walston of Sicily Island.
The Pallbearers were Troy Rush, Garrett Walston, King Self, Billy Walston, Jr., Rodney Mason and Dewayne Guice.
The Honorary Pallbearers were Ed Mason, Tony Medina, Johnny Rodriquez and Eddie Lynn Mason.

Geneva Martin Tarver
Funeral services for Geneva Martin Tarver, age 85, of Ferriday, were held at Young's Funeral Home on Friday, May 22, 2009, at 2 PM with Bro. Randy Williams officiating.
Interment followed at Cypress Grove cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Ms. Tarver was born October 15, 1923, in Wisner, the daughter of Edward Rufus Martin and Alice Dubell Martin, and passed from this life Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Larto, La.
She was a resident of Ferriday, a school bus driver until she retired at age 70, and she was a member of the Hill Memorial Baptist Church.
Mrs. Tarver was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Leroy Tarver; her brothers, Tom Martin, Willie Green, Luke Martin, Clifford Martin, Jimmy Ukele, and Ben Martin; and sisters, Cresslee Berry, Irene Boone, Leta Freeman, Ruby Graves, Etta Mae Swilley.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne and his wife, Brenda Tarver of Ferriday, Charles "Jr" Tarver and his wife Jennie, of Wildsville,and Sonny Tarver and his wife Doris of Larto; and daughters, Dewanna Mason and her husband, Frank of Ferriday, and daughter,  Martha and her husband, Quenten Mathews, Jr. of Clayton, La., as well as her special daughter, Bobbie and her husband, Pat Tucker.
Mrs. Tarver is also survived by her sisters, Bessie Lincecum of Ferriday, and Merlee Dale of Denham Springs, La.; and her brothers, Ralph Martin of Vidalia, and Nub Martin of Ferriday; and her special sister-in-law Bea Martin.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons Eddie, Joey, John, Justin, Lee Tarver and Trey Mason.
Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren Alicia Blackledge, Paige Pace, Donna Geneva Tarver, Mindy Murray, Lynda Murry, Buck Matthews, Lucas Blount, and Lauren Blount.

Linda Gail Ford
Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Gail Ford were held at 10 AM Friday, May 22, 2009, at Oak Grove Free Methodist Church with Bro. Doyle Stockman and Bro. David Poole officiating.  
Interment followed in the Aimwell Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.
Mrs. Ford, age 54, was born January 11, 1955, the daughter of Charles Elmo Ford and Mary Edith Ford, and passed from this life on May 19, 2009, in her residence in Thibodaux, LA.
Mrs. Ford was the manager of a finance company.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Elmo Ford and Mary Edith Ford.
Mrs. Ford is survived by her husband, Wayne W. Ford; two daughters, Mandy Smith of Jonesville, and Shelley Fowler of Thibodaux;  and two brothers, Buster Ford of Jena and Ronald Ford of Jonesville.
Also surviving Mrs. Ford are her five grandchildren, Dylan, Bryant, Zach, Alyssa, and Brianna; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Evan Ford, Steven Ford, Gary Neal, Lionel Posey, Tim Neal, and Michael Neal.
Honorary Pallbearers were Dewey Wayne Stockman, Ronald Cockerham, and Alvie Lee Posey.

Ella Mae Cassel
Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Mae Cassel, age 88, of Harrisonburg,  will be held at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Jonesville tomorrow, Thursday, May 28, 2009, at 2 PM with Father Louis Sklar officiating.
Interment will follow at Harrisonburg Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Mrs. Cassel was born August 5, 1920, the daughter of Elvin Beasley and Elizabeth Sawyer Beasley, and passed from this life Monday, May 25, 2009, at The Columns Community Care Center in Jonesville.
She was a resident of Harrisonburg, a piano teacher, and a member of the St. Gerard Catholic Church.
Mrs. Cassel was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harrison Cassel, Sr. and her son, Thomas "Tom" Cassel Jr.
She is survived by her daughter Dianne Fontenot and her husband Ernie of The Woodlands, Texas, and her daughter-in-law, Rita Cassel of Sarasota, Fla.
Also surviving Mrs. Cassel are her three grandsons, Thomas Cassel III, Mark Dale Cassel and Chris Cassel; and three granddaughters, Gennifer Kelly, Lesley Lancaster and Katherine Kay.
She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Young’s Funeral Home, Jonesville, from 6 PM to 8 PM today, Wednesday, May 27, 2009.
The Pallbearers will be Bryan Kelly, Jason Lancaster, Steve Kay, Howard Cater, Barrow Leaker.

Leo W. Mitchell, Sr.
Funeral services for Leo W. Mitchell Sr., 87 of Monterey, LA will be held at Young's Funeral Home tomorrow,  Thursday, May 28, 2009, at 11 AM with Rev. Raymond Beard officiating.
Interment will follow at White Cemetery, Monterey, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Leo was born July 15, 1921, in Picayune, MS, the son of Rev. B. W. Mitchell and Alice Mitchell, and passed from this life Monday, May 25, 2009, at LaSalle General Hospital, Jena. He was a resident of Monterey, retired from the Highway Department and was a member of the Pentecostal Faith.
Leo served his Country in the United States Army during WWII. He enlisted on August 20, 1942, and received his Honorable Discharge on November 5, 1945.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Lee Mitchell; his son, Johnny Snyder Mitchell; one brother, four sisters, and his great-granddaughter, Rebecca Dryg.
Leo is survived by his children: daughter, Mary Core and her husband Robbie of Monterey; son, Leo Mitchell, Jr., and his wife Jeannie of Lafayette, La.; son Price Gallup and his wife Bertha of Monterey; daughter, Dorothy Millican and her husband Tommy of Monterey; and son, Tony Mitchell and his wife Stephanie of Lafayette.
He is also survived by his sister, Edna Booth of Jonesville.
Also surviving Mr. Mitchell are 22 grandchildren, 28 great- grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren
The Pallbearers will be Keith Owens, B. J. Guidry, Johnathan Olds, Dillon Wickliffe, Eric Wike and Eric Sharp.
The Honorary Pallbearers will be Adam Green, Terry Robinson and his Grandsons.
