Dr. Joe P. Lancaster
Funeral services for Dr. Joe P. Lancaster, age 78, of Ferriday,  were held at Young's Funeral Home, Ferriday, on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at 11 AM with Rev. Clyde Ray Webber officiating.  
Interment followed at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Dr. Joe was born November 6, 1930, in Natchez, MS, the son  of James Otto Lancaster and Ruth Gillespie Lancaster, and he passed from this life Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in Ferriday.  
He was a lifelong resident of Ferriday, a Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine for 52 years, and a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ferriday.
He was preceded in death by his brothers John Bruce, James O., and A. K. "Buddy" Lancaster.
Dr. Joe is survived by  his wife Jimmie Willett Lancaster of Ferriday, and his children, Lisa Lancaster Smith of Ferriday, Joe Dee Lancaster of Ferriday, and Lilah Lancaster Larkin and her husband Kevin of Dallas, Texas.
He is also survived by his grandson Lance Michael Smith of Dallas, Texas, his granddaughter Leia Smith Freeman and her husband Clay and great-grandson Landry of Ferriday.
Also surviving Dr. Joe are his sisters, Mittie Lancaster Schiele of Ferriday, Jane Arlette Lancaster of Ferriday, and Marjorie Lancaster Wood of Tallulah, La., as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
  The Pallbearers were Arthur Knesel Lancaster, Jr., George Wayne Lancaster, John Preston Lancaster, Edward Lancaster Schiele, James Bart Wood, Rutledge Claude Horne II, Ronnie Wayne Bradford, and Tom Terry Miliken II.

Calvin E. Dodd, Jr.
Funeral services for  Mr. Calvin E. Dodd Jr., age 80, of Ferriday  were held at Young's Funeral Home on Friday, May  1, 2009 at 10 AM with Bro. Wayne Gray  officiating.  
Interment followed at Oakley Cemetery, Gilbert, La., under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Dodd was born September 5, 1928, in Carrolton, MS, the son of Calvin Elzie Dodd, Sr., and Velma Willoughby Dodd, and passed from this life Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria.  
He was a resident of Ferriday,  a retired Mill Wright worker,  and a member of the Evangeline Baptist Church. He was a member of the Moose Lodge where he held office as Governor for 2 years and Jr. Governor for 2 years.  He served his Country in the United States Army in the Air Force Unit.
Mr. Dodd was preceded in death by his wife Mary Dodd; his brother Talmadge Dodd, and his sisters Lucille Elliott and Sarah Gwin.
 He is survived by his children, Glenda Sue and Robert Wright of Ferriday, Calvin "Buddy"  Eugene and Susan "Sue" Dodd of Vidalia, and Gary Lynn and Becky Dodd of Atlanta, Ga.
Also surviving Mr. Dodd are his brothers, Robert and William Dodd, both of Ferriday, and his sisters, Joann Comeaux of Rayville,  Elaine Groleau of Oregon, and Edna Ruth Smith of Oregon.
He is also survived by          10 grandchildren         11 great grandchildren.

Henry “Sonny” Roberts
Funeral services for Mr. Henry "Sonny" Roberts, age 71, of Ferriday, were held at Dunbarton Baptist Church on Saturday, May  2, 2009, at  1PM with Rev. Mack Walker  officiating.  
Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Natchez, MS under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Roberts was born April 9, 1938, in Natchez, the son of Henry L. and Annie McKay Roberts, and passed from this life Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Natchez Community Hospital Natchez.  
He was a resident of Ferriday. He worked in the  oil field,  and was a member of the Dunbarton Baptist Church.
Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his wife, Abbie Gail Roberts; two brothers, Donald J. Roberts and Jerry D. Roberts; and two sisters, Marie Aswell and Joyce Roberts.
He is survived by his daughter Angie and her husband Ronald Donaldson of Vidalia; his step-daughter Abie Shirley and her husband Robert of Larto; and his step-son Jessie Brown and his wife Elisha of Ferriday.
Mr. Roberts is also survived by two brothers, Lee Roberts and his wife Barbara  of Vidalia and                        Bubba Roberts and his wife Charlotte of Natchez; and seven sisters, Linda King and her husband Don  of Montecello, Miss.; Annette and her husband Robert Lewis of Natchez; Fannie Taylor of Bogalusa, La.; Nita and her husband Monette Vines of Woodville, Miss.;                           Earline Gray,                           Patricia Callender, and Betty Hoofman and her husband Randy Hoofman, all of Vicksburg, Miss.; his lifelong friend,  James Ola, and his special friend, Geraldine Benson.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The Pallbearers were Clint Barnett, Danny Barnett, Matthew Brown, Curtis Shirley, Harvey Cowan and Bobby Cowan.
The Honorary Pallbearers were Mack Smith, Quentin Matthews, Jeff Cowen, Bo White, J.L. Enfinger and Kenneth Hendricks.

Robert Daniel Mize, Sr.
Funeral services for  Mr. Robert Daniel  Mize Sr., age 63, of Waterproof, LA  were held at Young's Funeral Home on Monday, May  4, 2009, at  2 PM with Phil Robertson and Bro. Alan Robertson  officiating.
Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Natchez, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Robert  was born October 5, 1945, in Waterproof, the son of Guy Clinton Mize and Maxine Webb Mize, and passed from this life Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Riverland Medical Center  in  Ferriday.  
He was a resident of Waterproof,  a life long farmer,  and a member of the Baptist faith.  He served his Ccountry in the United States Army National Guard.
Robert was preceded in death by his father Guy Clinton Mize, his son Robert Daniel Mize, Jr., and his brother John Wesley Mize, Sr.
He is survived by his wife Becky Kimbrough Mize of Waterproof; his mother Maxine Webb Mize of Waterproof; his son Timothy Mize and Aaron Crawford of Waterproof, and his daughter Robin Trichelle Mize of Waterproof.
Also surviving Robert are his five  grandsons, Joshua Lee Cowan, Walker Daniel Mize, James Maddox Mize, Shooter Wayne Mize and Jake Crawford; and his three granddaughters, Anna Patrice Cowan, Aly Rose Guthrie and Arden Renee Crawford.
Robert is also survived by three brothers, Owen, Ray and Richard Mize; and five sisters, Evelyn Mohon, Ann Walker, Wanda Fife, Darlene Sweat and Becky Lee.
The Pallbearers were Kevin Craft, Kenny Fife, Skeeter Kimbrough, Carl Olds, Jr., Tommy Kimbrough, Brad Fife, Steven Hoover and Mark Williams.
The Honorary Pallbearers were Joey Mize and Charles Campbell.

Mary Violet Brown Tolbert
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Violet Brown Tolbert, age 88, of Jonesville, who died Monday, May 4, 2009, in Jena, will be at 2 PM today, Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Joel Ford and the Rev. Scott Fletcher officiating.
Interment will follow at Heard Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mrs. Tolbert was born Auguest 2, 1920, in LaSalle Parish, the daughter of Richard and Rowena E. Brown.
She was a home maker and a member of the Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church. She had been a resident of Jonesville for over 75 years.
Mrs. Tolbert was preceded in death by her husband, William  Riley Tolbert, and seven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her four sons Clifford, Bill, Cleveland, and Calvin Tolbert, all of Jonesville; and her five daughters, Pauline  Davis of Jonesville; Earline  Brown of Magnolia, AR; Shirley Walton, Camillia Parker, and Sharon Coates, all of Jonesville.
Mrs. Tolbert is also survived by four brothers, Elburn Brown and Roy Brown, both of Jonesville, Troy Brown of Arcadia, LA, and O. J. Brown of Jena; and a sister Phylisty Netherland of Jonesville.
She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were grandsons Jerome Tolbert, Elton Tolbert, Kenny Davis, Jason Tolbert, Dewayne Brown, Brian Brown, and Michael Coates and Gerry Hathcock.

Mary Kirby Fairbanks
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Kirby Fairbanks, age 91, of Monroe were held at 3:00 PM Friday, April 24, 2009, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Mulhearn Memorial Park in Monroe with Rev. Clyde Ray Webber, Jr. officiating.
Interment followed in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Mrs. Fairbanks was a member of College Place Baptist Church and loved her family dearly.
She is survived by her sons, John Howard Fairbanks, Jr. and his wife Tegwin and Thomas H. Fairbanks and his wife Diane; and her daughter, Emmeline Cain.
Also surviving Mrs. Fairbanks are eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Belle Zerby and Leon Richardson.
