Charlie Alene Thompson
Mrs. Charlie Alene Thompson, 91, left this world on February 1, 2010. Alene was born April 4, 1918 in Walters, LA ( French Fork) . She has always been young at heart and wanted her grandchildren to call her Alene. She has always been full of fun and life and every one that knew her loved to listen  to the exciting tales of her life. She loved dancing, talking, and having a good time. She loved doing good things for her family and friends. Alene greatest joy was growing beautiful flowers and working in her yard.
Alene had several businesses, Thompson’s Truck Stop and Motel, Thompson ‘s Western Wear in Jena and Jonesville, and the Chic Shoppe.
Alene is preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Martha Floyd, husband Julian Wesley (Dub) Thompson,Sr., daughter Nita Dayton Boyd, grandson Justin Grady Thompson, great-grandson John Leslie Bowman, brother Chester Floyd, sister Janie Bird, son-in-law Lanny Ducote, and friend Pierce Ray.
She is survived by her daughters Norma Ducote and Diane Valentine and husband Don. Her son Julian Wesley (Sonny) Thompson, Jr. and wife Jeanette. 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She will be missed very much.
Services were at 2 p.m.Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in the chapel of Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Robertson officiating. Burial followed in the Belah Cemetery, Belah.
Pallbearers were Ducie Ducote, Chance Birkicht, Rowdy Ryland, Cote’ Ryland , Donnie Valentine, and Shannon Valentine.
Honorary pallbearers were Julian Wesley Thompson, Zane Birkicht, Wendell Birkicht, Buddy Ryland, Alan Dayton,  Bill Lamb, David Grant, Tyler Grant, Don Kinach, Billy Mac Lamb, John Bowman, Darren Leonard, Will Dayton, and Bobby Joe Fisher.
Vera Bass Cockerham
Funeral services for Vera Bass Cockerham, 89, of Jonesville, LA were held Thursday, February 2, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Good Road Pentecostal Church, Jonesville with Rev. Bryan Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Heard Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home, Ferriday, LA.
Mrs. Cockerham was born March 26, 1920 to Joe C. and Artie M. Bass in Jonesville and passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010 in Jena, LA. She was a homemaker and a member of Good Road Pentecostal Church.
Mrs. Cockerham had been a lifelong resident of Jonesville. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, L.C. Cockerham, Sr.
Survivors include a son, L.C. Cockerham, Jr. and wife, Ida, of Jonesville; a daughter, Beverly Edwards and husband, Jesse, of Jonesville; grandchildren, Patricia Coates and James Edward Cockerham; and great grandchildren, Brian Lee Coates, Curtis Cockerham, Colby Cockerham, and Brett Cockerham.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Cooper, Robert Squyres, Wayne Ford, Austin Callons, James Neal, and J.B. Morris, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Pentecost, Ronald Cockerham, and the Sandy Lake Fire Dept.

Marvyn V. LaPrairie
Funeral services for Mrs. Marvyn V. LaPrairie, 74, of Larto, LA were held at Larto Baptist Church on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 10 a.m. with Bro. Mac Walker and Bro. Lloyd Trisler officiating. Interment followed at Pease Cemetery, Larto under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Mrs. LaPrairie was born May 14, 1935 in Jonesville, LA and passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010 at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. She was a resident of Larto and a member of the Larto Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clint Littleton; her mother, Clara Littleton Allwell; her step-father, Truman Allwell; three brothers, Clint Littleton Jr., Jerry Allwell, and Bradley Allwell; and one sister, Velma Smith.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, George LaPrairie Sr. of Larto; four sons, George "Butch" LaPrairie, Jr. and wife Becky of Jonesville, Darrell LaPrairie and wife Gayle of Jonesville, Wallace LaPrairie and wife Beverly of Larto, and Tommy LaPrairie and wife Nina of Larto; two sisters, Addie Mae Wiley of Larto and Doris Allwell of Jonesville; two brothers, Terry Allwell of Beaumont, Texas and Billy Allwell of Jonesville; five grand children, Tim LaPrairie, Tess O'Rourke, Jennifer Sharp, Mark LaPrairie, and Sheri LaPrairie; five great grandchildren, Riley O'Rourke, Brenynn O'Rourke, Richard Tiser, Jordan Sharp, and Cheslea LaPrairie; special friend, Calvin Dent of Larto; and special friend and companion, her dog, Peanut.
Pallbearers were Mark LaPrairie, Tim LaPrairie, Calvin Dent, Bill Wiley, Robert Wiley, and Tim White.

Funeral services for Rev. C. N. Tucker, 64, of Sikes, LA were held at Wallace Ridge Pentecostal Church on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 12 p.m. with Bro. Todd Tucker, Bro. Thomas K. Smith, Bro. Kevin Cox, Bro. Floyd Hawthorne, and Bro. Jerry Holland officiating. A graveside service followed at Welcome Home Cemetery, in Grayson, LA at 3 p.m., under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Jonesville.

A Memorial Service for Ms. Shirley Marie McClerkin, 68, of Vidalia, LA was held Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Vidalia United Methodist Church under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
