Services for Elveta B. Crooks were at 1 PM, Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Oak
Grove Free Methodist Church, Jonesville with Rev. Emitte Belgard and Chaplin
Clyde Grammon officiating. Interment was at Spring Ridge Baptist Church
Cemetery under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria.
Elveta B. Crooks, 72, of Grayson passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at her
home.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carla Crooks Patten; brother, Jessie
Blount and sister, Wylene Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Nolan Crooks; brother, James Blount; daughters,
Susie Conner and husband Earl, Jeanie Liffick and husband Billy; sons, Thomas
James Gerald, Carl William Crooks and wife Joyce, Ray Crooks and wife Louise,
Josh Smith and wife Amber and Darren Smith and wife Felicia; 13 grandchildren
and 17 great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Josh Smith, Darren Smith, Earl Conner, Grant Tarpley, Carlos
Coleman; and B.A. Herrington; Honorary pallbearers were Dean Poole, Cub Watson,
Paul Wright, James Little and Robert Prudhomme.

W.L. “Dub” Paul
Funeral services for W.L. "Dub" Paul, 83 of Monterey, LA, were held Saturday,
August 28, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Eva Church of God with Rev. Kevin Sims, Rev.
Lloyd Trisler, and Rev. Leland Briggs officiating. Interment followed at Palo
Alto Cemetery in Mayna, LA under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Mr. Paul was born May 27, 1927 in Gilbert, LA and passed away Wednesday, August
25, 2010 in Pineville, LA. He was the son of Willie J. and Drusilla B. Paul. He
had been a lifelong resident of Monterey and a member of the Eva Church of God.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from the
Louisiana Highway Department after 30 years of service as a surveyor. He was
also a security guard for the Tensas Cocodrie Pumping Station and a Concordia
Parish Deputy for 14 years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars,
the Council on Aging, and the Republican Party Committee of Concordia Parish.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Paul of Monterey; his sons, Jason McClure and
wife, Machelle of Rusk, TX and Brad McClure of Monterey; a daughter, Sonya
Seals of Colfax, LA; a brother, Winson Paul of Monterey; grandchildren, Dustin,
Sierra, Brandon, Jessica, Wyatt, Ariel, and Brandy; nieces, Joy Trisler and
Beth Wug; and a nephew, Dane Paul.
Pallbearers were Dane Paul, Winnfield Ward Pecanty, Lee Dale, Tommy Tiffee, and
Jack D. Jackson, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Bud Paul, Rev. Leland Briggs, Faye "Tinker" Renfrow,
J.W. Thompson, N.W. Simpson, and C.D. Beard.

Brian Gibson
Funeral services for Brian Gibson, 38, of Downsville, are at 11:00AM on
Wednesday, September 1st, 2010, in the Chapel of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of
West Monroe with Jason Saucer officiating.
Interment follows at 3:00PM in the Harrisonburg Cemetery, Harrisonburg, LA under
the direction of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Brian was born in West Monroe on November 25, 1971, and died on August 29, 2010,
in West Monroe from a short, but hard fought battle with cancer.
He graduated from West Ouachita High School in 1990 and was employed as an
offshore Safety Officer. Brian loved the outdoors and LSU football and was a
loving, devoted family member and friend who will be missed by many.
Survivors include his mother, Carol Johnson; his father, Joe Gibson; his sister, Ensign Brandi Lynn Gibson;
a very special friend, Ashley Bearden; uncles, Steve Gibson and Fred Britton; a
number of aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a host of loving friends.
Pallbearers are David Williams, Mike Williams, Edward Samaha, Jake Smith, Randy
Crain, and Jim McGrew.
The family requests that in lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions be made to the Brian Gibson Memorial Fund at Christ Church of West Monroe, 208
Lincoln Street, West Monroe, LA 71291.
