This year was a spectacular attendance turnout, and we hope that everyone enjoyed the parade and the snow!
We, the Jonesville Christmas Parade Committee, would like to take this time to say “Thank You” to the town of Jonesville for allowing us to put on the 2009 Christmas Round-up.
Thank you National Guard Armory for allowing us to use your parking lot for our Vendor ’s Market and entertainment. We were happy with the turn out of the craft vendors and the food vendors. Thank you Teran Book, Bobbie Alexander, Gary Odom and anyone else that assisted with the line-up of the Parade entries, it is a tough job and y ’all pulled it off!  To Ken, Walter and the other Town employees that ran the electricity and moved the equipment – “Thank You”! Thanks to the Chief of Police and the Jonesville Police Department for your assistance. Mr. Stephan Collins for running the sound equipment. The Jonesville Talent Academy did a wonderful job performing in the cold and the snow – thank you for doing that for us! To Stephan Mophett, Daryl Floyd and all those that assisted with the fireworks a great big “Thank you”! And to Mr. Paul Daly from the Wild Horse Ministry for providing the Grand Marshalls with a ride in your buggy! We hope we have not missed anyone, but if we have, we want to say “Thank you.” Without these people and all of the citizens of Jonesville, the parade would not have been a success.  Thank you for a wonderful time!

Sicily Island Christmas Parade and Bazaar is Friday    (published December 9, 2009)
The Sicily Island Christmas Parade will be held this Friday, December 11. Line up is at 6 p.m. at Sicily Island High School. The theme for this year's parade will be The Magic of Christmas. Come out and enjoy the show!
On the same day as the parade, the Sicily Island Lions Club will hold a Christmas Bazaar beginning at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the Sicily Island United Methodist Church.
There will be a variety of Christmas items from angels to ornaments to wreaths and a good assortment of homemade sweet treats.
There will also be gumbo “by the serving” for lunch and supper--as long as it lasts.
The Lions Club supports a camp for handicapped children and helps provide eye care for those who need help.  The Sicily Island Lions Club has provided eyeglasses for several local people and has helped with other local needs as well.
Please come to the Bazaar and support this local club in its efforts to provide for others.
The Methodist church is located on Highway 8 between the town hall and the library.  The Bazaar will begin at 10 a.m. and run through the parade that evening with gumbo available until it runs out!
Catahoula Tour of Homes slated for December 12   (published December 9, 2009)
This Saturday, December 12, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m, the owners of three beautiful homes in Catahoula Parish will open their doors to visitors and share their wonderful hospitality and holiday decor as well as delicious refreshments to benefit the Jonesville Community Tennis Association.
Tickets are $10/all three homes and are available from members of the Tennis Association or can be purchased at any of the homes the day of the tour.
The three homeowners are Linda and Bill Edwards of Manifest and Cindie and Junior Crawford and Brenda and Rodney Sones, located on Lake Lilly Road on the banks of the Bursley.
Directions to the Edwards home from Jonesville: turn left on Hwy 126 and go all the way until it intersects with Hwy 8. Turn left and go to the Pisgah Baptist Church, turning into the church parking lot. Visitors can park there and walk next door to the Edwards home to the left of the church.
The Crawford home and the Sones home are next door neighbors located on Hwy 923, Lake Lilly Road. From Jonesville head toward Harrisonburg and go just past the two churches on Hwy 124, the Wallace Ridge Baptist Church and the Wallace Ridge Pentecostal Church, then turn left onto Hwy 923 and go two miles. The Crawfords ’ driveway is to the right just in the curve and the Sones driveway is the next one on the right.
The Jonesville Woman's Club has graciously offered to help provide refreshments at each of the three homes.
In the past, the Christmas Tour of Homes was held during the afternoon, but this year will be the first evening tour - all the better to enjoy the Christmas lights and an evening full of southern hospitality, good food and beautiful homes.
The proceeds will be used to keep the cost of the Children’s Spring Tennis Camp at an affordable cost for everyone and also to support the tennis program in the community.
The Tennis Association recently purchased scoring trees, center straps, and a new court squeegee cover for the public tennis courts in Jonesville.  New nets will be purchased for the courts in the near future.
The Association provides portable nets, racquets, balls, and teaching aids for the annual children's tennis camp. The Association is also partnering with the United States Tennis Association to bring QuickStart Tennis to the local elementary schools in Catahoula Parish and Monterey.
Mark your calendar - Saturday, December 12, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., so you don't miss the Catahoula Christmas Tour of Homes.
