Five local brother-in-laws received medals from Governor Bobby Jindal recently at a ceremony in Alexandria. David Morace, Charles Wascom, Lank Bass, Nelson Bourque, and John Whitehead (Whitehead was unable to attend the ceremony due to illness), all served their country in various foreign wars, and all proudly accepted their well-deserved medals, meant as a token of thanks for being there when their country was in need.
Morace, Wascom, and Bourque are all Vietnam Veterans while Bass served during Desert Storm, and Whitehead during both Desert Storm and the more recent Iraqi Freedom Operation. Bourque, pictured at bottom/right above, is in a wheelchair due to a landmine explosion while he was in Vietnam.
