The Lady Bears couldn't hold off Tensas and fell to second place in District 3-1A.
HHS teams drop two games each (published February 3, 2010)
The Harrisonburg Lady Dawgs and Bulldogs lost two games each between January 26 and 29.
The two teams fell first to Avoyelles Charter of Mansura on January 26 with the Lady Dawgs coming up short, 49-38, and the Bulldogs losing by 12, 58-46.

Judge Kathy Johnson became Chief Judge for the Seventh Judicial District Court on January 1, 2010. The court rules of the Seventh Judicial District Court will be amended so the position of Chief Judge will rotate on a yearly basis.

What Does One Leaf Matter?
This story is told by the superintendent of a famous park:
One year there was an African Violet show. Thousands of people came, probably because they enjoy growing these plants and because of the beauty of the flowering plants. A strange thing happened during the show.
One after another, the people attending broke off leaves from the finest plants to take home and root for their collections.
The Jonesville Volunteer Fire Department was something beyond busy on the first day of February as they battled three fires before the day was done.

CPSO deputies nab two for burglary  (published February 3, 2010)
Are you glad deer season is over?  I am!  I saw 9 deer this year while on a stand.  The absolute worst year of my deer hunting career.  I saw only one buck, the little spike I shot at and missed with the jinxed .22 Hornet, this whole season.
The Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office arrested two men last weekend in connection to the burglary of a camp on Black River Lake in the Parhams Bend community.
Crop Production Meeting slated for Feb. 15, 2010  (published February 3, 2010)
A new year brings in new hopes, plans, and promises. This is our hope for Catahoula Parish farmers. In an effort to provide farmers with the resources they will need, the local extension office will hold its annual crop production meeting on February 15th beginning at 8:15 a.m. at the recreation room of the First Baptist Church in Jonesville.
